Meet our K9 Teams

Bob Wells has been a member of  CARDA for over 17 years. CARDA is one of the largest, and one of the oldest, volunteer K-9 Search and Rescue organizations in the country. He is also a member of CEMP , the Los Angeles Police Piglet-WaitingForUs-bone search-RRSAR-6-2015Department’s  Volunteer SAR organization based in California’s San Fernando Valley. Bob is a Certified Mission Ready Trailing Dog Handler through CARDA and Cal-Ema. Bob’s K-9  partner is an 8.5 year old Bloodhound named “Inspector Gadget”. And, new to the pack is “Pinkerton”. Soon to learn the ropes!
CARDAk9 wells requires that dog Teams re-certify every 2 years with Evaluators outside of the Teams Training Group and Agency. Additional requirements are an intense Handler Skills sign off process and Bi annual recertification of First Responder,CPR and a Fitness Hike. Additionally,Bob serves as an Evaluator  and Dog Ops for CARDA and Cal-Ema. Bob’s father in law was a Veterinarian and he worked side by side with him for many years. Bob is also very active in the community CERT program and has been a Ham operator for many years.

 Lori Wells has been a member of  CARDA for over 15 years. CARDA is one of the largest, and one of the oldest, volunteer K-9 Search and Rescue organizations in the country. She is also a member of CEMP , the Los Angeles Police Department’s  Volunteer SAR organization based in California’s San Fernando Valley. Lori is a Certified Mission Ready Trailing Dog Handler through CARDA and Cal-Ema.  Lori’s K-9  partners are an 8.5 year old Catahoula Leopard Dog named “Katrina”.  She is the niece of Lori’s first SAR partner “Buster”. Lori has also certified another of Buster’s nieces, “Piglet”. She is an HRD dog for land and water. Newest addition , “Ledoux” will be following in his Aunt Emma’s trailing footsteps. She was Lori’s second trailing dog and passed away last year. CARDA requires that dog Teams re certify every 2 years with Evaluators outside of the Teams Training Group and Agency. Additional requirements are an intense Handler Skills sign off process and Bi annual recertification of First Responder, CPR and a Fitness Hike. Additionally,Lori serves as an Evaluator for CARDA and Cal-Ema. Lori also has a foundation in obedience training and a keen understanding of what goes on in a dogs mind. Lori’s father was a Veterinarian and she worked side by side with him for many years. Lori also has an interest in the advancement of the human understanding of how dogs use their natural abilities to discriminate scents and sources.
